USS Midway and The Museum of Man
USS Midway
I first started at the USS Midway, even though I have been there before ages back, I didn’t have much memory of going there before. We went up the creaky staircase into a large open area, this area was the main display room. The room trailed off in a few directions, I could see the gift shop, two staircases, and a deck. I knew the ship was large, but I was amazed how big this room was, this room could easily fit a track inside it. I looked around examining this amazing feat of technology before we were ushered down a hidden staircase into a small hallway. The hallway had these bumps in the doors that we called “Knee Knockers”, lucky I was just short enough to not risk bumping my head. We went down the long hallway into a small white room with a TV, some tables, and a display showing off a ROV (ROV means a remotely operated underwater vehicle). There were a few people who talked to us about their cause and their time in the army. We learned Project Recovery, Project Recovery is project were they find people who went missing during the war and allow them to have a proper funnearl, bringing closure to there family. We got to try out a cool AR experience on an ipad afterwards, than we all got free T-shirts and started heading back up to the main level. We got an hour to check out the whole ship, so my group I went with first stopped by the food court to grab a snack. On the way to the food court we noticed a giant glass floor that showed you a few floors of the ship.

I took some photos there, then we walked around checking out all the planes on the top deck. It is amazing how large these planes are as I always knew they were big, but I never got a proper scale of these ones since the last time I saw them I was tiny and everything looked huge. We soon checked the time and realized that we had to head back to the bus, we ran back down and got ready to go to the next location.
The Museum of Man
I was excited to come back to The Museum of Man, because even though I have gone before, there is always something knew and this place is huge. I last went to The Museum of Man in the 9th grade and I only got to see some parts of it. We first entered through the side area bringing us next to the monster exhibit, I’ve already seen it but it was nice running through it again because it is generally just a really fun display. We then kept going straight up to a staircase that brought us into a few exhibitions. The one that caught our attention was the exhibition about secrets. The exhibition about secrets allowed you to read anonymous and wright you own, I added one that I will not say because it’s a secret (obviously), but if you went to that exhibition there is technically a chance you could see mine. We then went through a small door, past a diner looking area into a back route that put us in the cannibal museum. I went in a group of 4 people so we all went through together, which I’m glad because we got to experience a really fun game. There is a passageway that brings you into a small room painted to look like an ocean, it has sound effects and all that jazz. We all stood on a small boat with a box on it, the rules were that we drew sticks, the person with the shortest stick gets eaten, the person with the second shortest stick has to kill them. I was unlucky and was the first person to die, but it was a really fun way to give perspective to the choices people have to make to survive. I think that my favorite exhibition has to be the secret exhibition but, the stranded on a ship exhibition is definitely a close second. I’m glad I got to see the whole cannibalism museum because it has a strange connection to our project. Food is very important to survive and when we are hungry we can do dramatic things, I think cannibalism really puts into context how desperate we can be for food.
Conclusion
Overall this was a really fun and informative trip and I am very glad that I got to experience with my peers.
